Lamb GraphicThe greatest single factor in the life and success of a congregation is the pastor. The Saint James Church has had twenty two pastors in its over one hundred year history, each adding something to the life, thought and activity of the church. In order of service, here follow the accounts of the life and ministry of our pastors.

Some patterns emerge regarding the shepherds of Saint James over the years. First, generally speaking, they were educated men. In the early years, education was not as easily attainable as in later years, but where education was possible, our shepherds pursued that opportunity.

Second, generally speaking, our shepherds appear to be hard-working, industrious men. In the early years, our shepherds had to provide for their own living as well as looking after the congregation. Travel was difficult which made service even more difficult. In later years, the church was able to support the pastor full-time which contributed to the growth and stability of the church. The depth of dedication of our pastors has resulted in one of the strongest churches in the brotherhood.

Third, many of our pastors were writers as well as students. They contributed to a wider ministry by the use of the pen and thus their ministry continues, even, in some cases, when the author himself is no longer living.
